Written for the reader who has already done everything asked of her
and simply wants to understand what's left.

A woman standing in her bathroom, hand in her hair, looking down at a weighing scale on the floor, with a pill bottle and an open notebook on the counter beside her.

Dear Reader,

"Doctor, my reports are normal now. Why haven't I lost even one kilogram?"

I have heard this question more times than I can count, over more than four decades of practice. If you're reading this, you have probably already lived through some version of it yourself.

You take your thyroid tablet every single morning, without fail. Your last blood test came back well within range — perhaps for the second or third check in a row. Your doctor told you your levels look great, and moved on to the next patient before you could say what you'd actually come in to say.

And the number on the scale has not moved. Or worse, it has gone up.

That gap — between "your levels are perfect" and "your body doesn't feel like it" — is not something you are imagining, and it is not a sign you are doing something wrong. It means the story is not finished. Your thyroid was very likely never the whole story to begin with.

Why "Normal" Doesn't Always Feel Normal

A lab report that says "normal" means your result falls somewhere inside a wide statistical range built from a large population of people. Two women can both be told "you're normal" while sitting at quite different points within that range — one feeling entirely well, the other still stuck, still tired, still watching a scale that won't move. Both reports are accurate. Neither tells the full story of how you actually feel.

What This Usually Isn't

It is not a lack of willpower. Certain hormonal states change how your body responds to a calorie deficit — the difference is often physiological, not a measure of your discipline. Nothing is wrong with you for still being stuck. Something is simply still unexplained.

From "I'm Doing Everything Right and Still Stuck"
to a "Doctor-Ready Plan"

This toolkit will not tell you what your particular lab results mean for your particular case — only your own doctor can do that. What it will do is change the shape of the conversation you're able to have with them: from "I don't know why this isn't working" to a short, specific list of things worth checking, in your own words.

Over six weeks, working a little at a time, you will come to understand:

This Is Not a Diet Book

There is no special "thyroid diet" in these pages, and no promise of a specific number of kilograms by a specific date. I have practiced too long to make promises medicine cannot keep. What you will have, by the end of six weeks, is something more useful than a promise: your own tracked information, and a specific plan for the conversation that comes next.

Why a Practicing Surgeon
and Not Another Coach

I completed my Master of Surgery in 1979, and went on to serve as senior faculty in the Department of Surgery at BRD Medical College, Gorakhpur; King George's Medical College, Lucknow; and GSVM Medical College, Kanpur, before moving into private surgical practice in 1995.

As faculty in the Endocrine Surgery Unit at King George's Medical College, Lucknow, I treated more than 50 thyroid patients a week for about a year and a half, and carried that focus forward as senior faculty overseeing thyroid patients and thyroid scans at GSVM Medical College, Kanpur — an area of clinical interest I have continued in private practice ever since.

This toolkit does not come from a single study repackaged for a general audience, and not from a wellness coach without a medical license behind him. In the years before endocrinology existed as its own well-established specialty, patients who had thyroid surgery — and their families, and everyone they knew — naturally turned to their surgeon for thyroid problems of every kind, not just the ones requiring an operation. That trust became a lasting pattern. My experience comes from decades spent in an operating theatre and a consulting room, watching this exact frustration — the one this toolkit addresses — play out, again and again, in real patients.

"I had the privilege of teaching and then working alongside Dr. Man Mohan Varma at King George's Medical College, Lucknow. He was Senior Faculty attached to the Endocrine Surgery Unit. His diagnostic clarity and dedication to patients set him apart even then. This book carries the same qualities — sound medicine, explained with genuine care for the person reading it."

What's Inside The Stuck Scale Toolkit

The full six-week playbook, organized into seven sections, each built around one idea to understand and one tool to put to use:

01
Why the Scale Won't Move — the myths worth taking apart first, before anything else
02
Your Thyroid, Explained Properly — what it does, what it doesn't, and the fluid-versus-fat distinction most patients are never given time to hear
03
Normal Labs, Still Stuck — what "normal" actually means on a report, and what's reasonable to ask about
04
The Hidden Co-Conditions — insulin resistance, PCOS and other factors, walked through with a simple decision tree for your own case
05
What Actually Helps — food and movement that works with a slower thyroid, not a generic protocol
06
When Diet and Exercise Aren't Enough — how to prepare for, and get the most from, a more specific medical conversation
07
Putting It All Together — your six weeks, reviewed, and what success actually looks like

What This Toolkit Will Not Do

I want to be plain about this rather than comforting about it. What I can offer reliably, without guesswork, is the map, the questions, and the tools to use them.

Another use for this book

A Time-Saver for You as well as Your Doctor Too

"Normal thyroid, but the weight won't budge" is one of the most time-consuming questions in a busy practice — walking through insulin resistance, PCOS, sleep, micronutrients, and leptin resistance can easily take half an hour, sometimes across multiple visits. This book lets you do that groundwork on your own time, then bring focused, informed questions to the appointment — saving everyone's time without cutting any corners.

Questions Worth Asking Before You Buy

Is this a replacement for seeing my doctor?

No. Nothing in this toolkit is a substitute for your own doctor's advice, and it says so plainly, more than once, inside. It is built to make your next appointment more focused — not to replace it.

I don't have PCOS. Will this still help me?

Yes. PCOS is one of many commonly missed contributors covered in Section 4, not the whole toolkit. The Decision Tree is built so you follow only the path that matches your own case — if a section doesn't apply to you, it tells you so directly and points you to the next question.

I've already tried cutting calories, elimination diets, tracking my food. How is this different?

Most of what's been suggested to you so far has likely assumed the only problem is food and effort. This toolkit starts from a different premise — that your thyroid, your labs, and at least one hidden hormonal factor may all be part of the picture — and gives you a specific way to check, rather than another version of the same advice.

Will this tell me to take a supplement or a specific medication?

No. This toolkit deliberately does not name drugs, dosages, or supplements. That decision belongs with your prescribing doctor, who knows your full history — not with a book read by many different readers at once.

What if I don't finish it in six weeks?

There is no wrong way to move through this material. Some readers work through it a week at a time as designed; others read the whole thing first and use the tools afterward. Either way works.

A note on risk

Zero Risk on the One Thing That's Actually Risky

This is an educational toolkit, not a weight-loss promise. What it does promise is clarity — a straightforward explanation of why the scale may not be moving, and a way out of the roadblock so many women hit after normal labs: a structured way to observe your own body, know which habits are worth changing, and ask your doctor the right questions. Because there's no outcome being sold, there's no outcome to refund. If you run into a technical issue with your download, write to us within 7 days at support@healthguidesforyou.com and we'll make it right.

The Choice in Front of You

You have taken your tablet every morning. You have sat through appointments where the number looked right but the answer didn't feel complete. That is not nothing — it is most of the work, already behind you.

You can keep waiting for your next appointment to feel different than the last three did. Or you can spend six weeks understanding why it hasn't — starting today.
